my prius commercial view of work

I believe that our work is supposed to provide us with a measure of both security and fulfillment. Of course, you could say the same thing of a family or a marriage, and if you look for all your security and fulfillment in either, you'll find your life unbalanced (as you would if you looked for all of those in a job). However, I think a good vocation is an opportunity to exercise your individual gifts and abilities in a way that benefits the community and your coworkers, which is, in itself, very rewarding. In return, your employer provides you with the security of financial stability and other benefits, which beget a sense of well-being, so that when you're not working, you can feel secure and fulfilled in the rest of your (balanced) life.
